Basketball Summer Clinic

We're into the last week of the first month of classes already. Ang bilis ng panahon, parang kelan lang we were thinking what summer activities our kid should enroll into.

I mentioned in my previous post that he attended a one-day cooking activity in April which I don't know if he enjoyed. Last May, we enrolled him in a 4-day basketball clinic sponsored again by the company where hubby works.

Funny thing is, I thought I knew how to assess my kid. I knew he does not like basketball, that's why maybe I judged him not to have any potentials in my chosen sports for him. I was surprised when hubby mentioned to me that the coach for their age bracket approached them after workshop and told hubby that our son has potentials. He has footworks and shooting skills daw. I just laughed it off, and told him, are you sure that the coach is talking about our kid? He may be referring to another kid.  Ang sama kong nanay no? Patawad na po.

Anyway, during the last day of workshop, I took a leave of absence in our office and accompanied Wyeth in his basketball clinic.  When it was over I called Wyeth if he would like me to get him chicken nuggets and hotdogs outside the gym, kasi its free for the kids. The Coach saw me called Wyeth and talked to me.

Coach:  Mommy, is he your son?

Me: Yes coach... :)

Coach: Mommy, he is very good. He's got lots of potentials. You just need to enroll him in a regular basketball workshop to enhance more of his skills.

Me: Ganun po ba :)   Thanks coach!

Umabot sa tenga ang mga ngiti ko muthers! Totoo nga ang tsismis ng asawa ko. The kid has potentials! Sino pa ako para mag duda, I heard it straight from coach's mouth.

I just felt bad, kasi ako na nanay, I did not believe in my son's skills. Ibang tao pa ang naka notice. So lesson learned mga mommies, never underestimate our kids capabilities and potentials. Nakakahiya na iba pa ang makapuna. I was just amazed with my kid, because even if he did not like basketball, he tried his best to enjoy the sports. Which I think he enjoyed this workshop better than the cooking activity.

Me and my hubby are both fans of basketball, kaya kilig kami sa assessment ni coach kay Wyeth. Kaya we are trying to find a good basketball clinic that we can enroll my kid in. Sayang naman kung hindi ma develop ang potentials.

Any suggestions? Saturday and Sunday lang sya puede. Thanks!

I will update this post to add a video of his workshop, once I learned how to upload a video here coming from instagram. I had to reset my iphone because of some issues kaya nawala lahat ng videos and photos ko. Stupid of me not to back up those files.

Ok, bye for now!
